Ken’s earliest music memories are of his older brothers Randy and Jeff rehearsing with their band in the basement. At 6 years old he would listen to them play for hours until he fell asleep, in spite of the high volume of the music. Ken also enjoyed listening to his mother play the piano, who in her own right is an accomplished musician. When it was time for Ken to begin his own musical journey, the trombone was the instrument of his choice. He chose the trombone because he admired the trombonist in his brothers’ band (Wiley Price) as a musician and a person. Through his elementary school years and all through high school, Ken became very proficient on the trombone. He won two awards for outstanding musicianship and toured throughout Europe with his high school jazz band, including performances at the world renowned Montreux Jazz Festival. Ken was also a member of the horn section for a local band called Vision in his hometown of St. Louis. Around this time he became interested in songwriting and decided to learn the piano. After 6 months of lessons with pianist Danny Du Maine, Ken left for the University of Kansas where he eventually became the pianist for the gospel choir on campus. Although not a music major, he also played his trombone with the University of Kansas Jazz Band and Trombone Choir. After graduation, Ken returned home to St. Louis and played the keyboard for a band called “Truth” that his brother Carlton had started along with Everett. Ken also played the piano for his local church, Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Having grown to be as confident on the keyboard as he was on the trombone, Ken would take a gig as keyboard player for former Temptations singer, Dennis Edwards. As a songwriter and producer Ken has written and produced songs that aired on the ABC daytime drama, All My Children. Now with 3 Central, Ken continues to hone his skills as a songwriter, producer and keyboardist not only with 3 Central but with other artists as well. He believes he has just begun to see the potential of music through God in his life.
